Job Description

Operational Leadership Role | Manufacturing Environment

APL is seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety & Training Lead to drive operational excellence across our Warehouse, Metal Processing and Bulk Store operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for embedding preventative safety systems, strengthening training capability, and ensuring strong compliance and reporting standards.

 

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in:

  • Leading proactive risk management initiatives
  • Driving cultural and behavioural safety improvements
  • Delivering and maintaining a structured Training Matrix
  • Strengthening competency systems and SOP compliance
  • Ensuring strong Eco Portal reporting discipline
  • Supporting ISO 45001 alignment
  • Maintaining compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015

This position balances strategic system oversight with visible, on-the-floor leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify hazards and implement effective risk controls
  • Conduct safety walk-throughs and behavioural observations
  • Lead structured investigations and root cause analysis
  • Monitor corrective actions and prevent repeat events
  • Maintain competency records and structured training pathways
  • Support audit readiness and compliance reporting
  • Lead SOSA (Safety Observations and Safety Actions) engagement
  • Analyse safety trends and identify systemic risks

 

About You

You will bring:

  • Experience in aluminium extrusion, powder coating, anodising, or window & door manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of health & safety risk management
  • Experience with digital reporting systems (Eco Portal preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing capability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Current Workplace First Aid Certificate

Preferred licensing (where applicable):

  • Full Car License with F Endorsement
  • Current OSH Forklift Certificate
  • Gantry Crane competency
