Operational Leadership Role | Manufacturing Environment
APL is seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety & Training Lead to drive operational excellence across our Warehouse, Metal Processing and Bulk Store operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for embedding preventative safety systems, strengthening training capability, and ensuring strong compliance and reporting standards.
The Opportunity
You will play a key role in:
- Leading proactive risk management initiatives
- Driving cultural and behavioural safety improvements
- Delivering and maintaining a structured Training Matrix
- Strengthening competency systems and SOP compliance
- Ensuring strong Eco Portal reporting discipline
- Supporting ISO 45001 alignment
- Maintaining compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
This position balances strategic system oversight with visible, on-the-floor leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify hazards and implement effective risk controls
- Conduct safety walk-throughs and behavioural observations
- Lead structured investigations and root cause analysis
- Monitor corrective actions and prevent repeat events
- Maintain competency records and structured training pathways
- Support audit readiness and compliance reporting
- Lead SOSA (Safety Observations and Safety Actions) engagement
- Analyse safety trends and identify systemic risks
About You
You will bring:
- Experience in aluminium extrusion, powder coating, anodising, or window & door manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of health & safety risk management
- Experience with digital reporting systems (Eco Portal preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing capability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Current Workplace First Aid Certificate
Preferred licensing (where applicable):
- Full Car License with F Endorsement
- Current OSH Forklift Certificate
- Gantry Crane competency
