We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an experienced showjumping Stable Groom. You will play a vital role in ensuring the overall care and well-being of our horses. You will be responsible for providing exceptional horse care, maintaining stable facilities and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Takapoto Equestrian program. This position requires a strong work ethic, excellent horsemanship skills, and a passion for horses. We have a diverse range of 30 horses, including broodmares, young sport horses through to Grand Prix horses. As a member of our close-knit team, you'll also be travelling with us to shows throughout the North Island year-round with the potential for international exposure for the right candidate. Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent care and grooming for the horses, ensuring their health, well-being, and overall presentation
- Handle and work with young horses confidently
- Carry out daily stable duties efficiently and effectively, including mucking out, feeding, grooming, tacking up as required
- Drive the horse truck to shows and competitions
- Ensure horses are always prepared and presented to a high standard
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth operation and communication within the stable
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience and confidence working with young horses is essential
- Meticulous attention to detail in your work
- Efficient and effective work ethic, capable of managing multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Physical fitness and capability to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects
- Possession of a valid Heavy Vehicle License is required (Min Class 2)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work well within a team environment
